This needle is the finest and thinnest of all - and thus also the most fragile , and are therefore not recommended for beginners. The barbs are on each side of the needle and leaves a star-shaped cut in the vinyl, which is barely noticable. Each side has 2 Barbs, closely together to insure that a hair is caught each time and rooted into the vinyl. Even though it has 6 Barbs, it would function the same as the three barb needle, but with much better grip and precision.
